Jennie de Groot

Jennie De Groot is an accomplished oil painter based in Ngahinapouri, where she maintains an active studio practice rooted in daily painting and plein air work. She holds a Master’s degree in Visual Art and brings both academic rigor and hands-on experience to her teaching.

Jennie’s work is represented in galleries across Aotearoa New Zealand and has gained national recognition as a finalist in prestigious awards including the New Zealand Painting and Printmaking Award (NZPPA) and the Molly Morpeth Canaday Award, among others. Her paintings are held in notable collections such as the University of Waikato, Wintec, and the Ballinglen Museum of Art in Ireland, as well as in private collections worldwide.

In 2023, Jennie was awarded a fellowship from the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ireland, an acknowledgment of her commitment to her craft and her evolving visual language.

As a tutor, Jennie brings a deep knowledge of oil painting, a passion for observation, and a supportive, exploratory approach to guiding adult learners at all levels.
