Want to take your creativity to the next level? Join this puppet-making holiday programme!
Students will learn how to make a marionette. They will create the head, limbs, body, garments, and most importantly, bring it to life!
Marionettes are a type of puppet that are controlled from above with string/wire. This enduring artform dates all the way back to Ancient Egypt and Greece and some historians even argue that marionettes predate actors in theatre. Their popularity has continued through the ages, and they are widely seen in theatre today, as well as film and television (Thunderbirds were all marionettes!).
Throughout this holiday programme, students will express their own creative vision whilst having fun in the process. Materials include a mix of papier-mâché, fabric, wool and pre-made eyes.
This course will be tutored by Anya Gladstone-Gallagher.
