Tuesday Exploring Pastels – Term 4

Introduction to pastels at a beginner level.

A course that will introduce you to the medium of soft pastels and the variety of techniques you can use to paint with the beautiful colours this medium offers. The course will take you thru the medium and ways to apply it, and provide a suggested approach to creating some beautiful art.

We will cover :

• Types of pastels and paper

• Different techniques you can use with pastel including underpaintings, blending and “mark making”

• Introduction to pastel artists in NZ and overseas and the different approaches

• Process to get you stared on creating your own art  – design to scale up

• Touch on Colour theory and Values and what these mean
