Ruth Davey: Waikato Icon is the guest exhibition this year. Nine pieces spanning three decades from 1980 to 2008 will demonstrate some of Ruth’s themes and her range of techniques. Running concurrently, there will be an exhibition of Ruth’s work upstairs at the Next Level Gallery. The proceeds from all sales of her prints go to the new Ruth Davey Merit in Printmaking award at the New Zealand Painting and Printmaking Awards in October.
WAIPRINT and the NLG exhibition open on Thursday, 10 September.
Printing Outside the Frame is this year’s WAIPRINT workshop. Gemma Reid, a recent arrival to the WSA family, will teach us techniques for using collagraph and drypoint to print on non-traditional surfaces with Akua water-based inks. The workshop will be in the WSA Print Rooms on 12 and 13 September. You can see some of Gemma’s work at www.instagram.com/gemmareidartist
