Welcome to WSA

WAIPRINT 2017

4 August – 4 September

ArtsPost  Galleries
Opening reception Thursday, 3 August, 5.30

This year’s annual WSA Printmakers show includes a selection from The Small Print, a travelling exhibition by members of Print Council Aotearoa New Zealand (PCANZ). In contrast to last year’s giant woodcuts, these petite prints will convince you that small is beautiful. PCANZ printmakers hail from all around the country, including the Waikato, and this show includes works by nine WSA artists.

Entry forms are due in the WSA office by Wednesday, 19 July, and the actual works are due by Monday, 31 July.

WAIPRINT Workshop

Plastered with Kathy Boyle

29 & 30 July
WSA Print Rooms
Cost to be confirmed

Hawkes Bay artist Kathy Boyle is back with another fun-packed weekend workshop for a dozen artists. For several years now Kathy has been researching printing in plaster, and is in demand in New Zealand and overseas for demonstrations and workshops. You may recall her lovely ‘river stones’ from when she was Waiprint guest artist in 2014.

In Plastered, we will use a range of traditional printmaking techniques  ̶  intaglio, relief and collograph  ̶  to print into plaster, creating everything from very smooth to highly textured single or multiple plaster objects. These can be further enhanced using different inking techniques, carving, chine collé, and a variety of mediums, such as wax and resin.

Plastered is aimed at printmakers but accessible for everyone. If you don’t have your own intaglio plates or relief blocks, there will be some available to use.
